Visa regulations for entry into Zambia are administered by the Zambia Department of Immigration. Travellers are strongly advised to consult the official e-Visa portal and the latest immigration notices before making travel arrangements.

Lusaka, the capital of Zambia

e-Visa and Online Services

The Department of Immigration provides an e-Visa system through which eligible travellers can apply online for visas to enter Zambia. The system facilitates efficient processing and helps genuine travellers move more easily while enabling the authorities to manage security risks.

Visa types include tourist, business and transit visas. We recommend applying well before your intended travel date. Final entry decisions are made by the Immigration Officer on arrival.

Immigration Permits

Individuals intending to live, work, invest or study in Zambia must apply for the appropriate immigration permit (for example employment, investor, study or residence permits) through the Department of Immigration or relevant one-stop investment offices.

The Embassy can provide information, refer enquirers to the competent authorities, and authenticate documents where necessary.

Visa Exemptions and Waivers

Zambia periodically updates its visa policies, including visa exemptions or waivers for nationals of selected countries to promote tourism, business and trade. Travellers should always refer to the latest official announcements on visa waivers and exemptions from the Department of Immigration.
